Gaming Gone Bad

As the holiday Christmas Season is quickly upon us, many gamers and parents of gamers are out searching for the latest and greatest when it comes to electronics and games. By now we all know the Xbox 360 has come out (not without its share of problem, way to go MS) and many new games are quickly hitting retail shelves so they can be under the tree come Christmas morning.

I'm fine with all that, really. I get into the "holiday spirit" every year, some more than others. Folks can spend, spend, spend all they like. This is not about how you spend, but are you getting what you pay for? Development studios continue to churn out piss poor games! I was enlightened last by a news article that was posted on Clanbase entitled, Games released; however, at what cost?.

Oswald has the floor...

Ah...I must give props to Brian Hill (aka MidgetKiller) who spent the past few weeks working on my theme for The 6th Floor. Keeping in line with one of the original designs (by Per Nyhaug) he whipped this gem up and now I am back online and ready to give it to you point blank!

Unlike years past where my commentary has focused primarily on gaming and level design, I am breaking out of the mold and giving it more of a personal touch. Hell, everyone these days has a blog or space in which they post whatever they want.

Along with a moderate dose of gaming related issues (usually my bitching and complaining) I will show off my newborn son, Zachary Stephen, possibly my wife (Hottlipz), who can still kick my ass in online gaming, along with the many other topics and hobbies of mine that are open for discussion. I am never lost for words.

It may take a few days to get everything up, running and configured to how I intend, but rest assured with this "leave" I am on from work, I have nothing but time. I know my wife is asking for more pictures of Zachary to be posted, as soon as my registration is confirmed I will get the gallery online and then wonder how he got to be so cute. Here he is a few minutes (if I remember correctly) after birth.

Anyways, I look forward to getting back into the swing of things and being able to post about whatever I damn well feel like it. By the way, I need to pimp Blankz and djWheat, both of Inside The Game. Why? Because they are both new fathers and because I have them linked to my site.

Months Gone By

…June…July…August, damn where did the time go? Quite a bit of work has transpired since my last entry on May 22. Let's start with the brake rebuild. All four "paws" have been completely rebuilt. I did use some of the original parts in the rebuild, such as the calipers and the dust shield on the front end. After the front end was put back together I torn into the rear end.

Finishing Up!

Been working on finishing up the passenger side brake, if I NEVER do another coil spring again, I will not miss it. What a pain in the ass! But the overall time frame was much shorter than the first time on the driver's side. Now with both brakes rebuilt and all now suspension components I have begun work on the tie rods and the center link. I did get confirmation that all the power steering components were traded to a Mustang owner. I was able to score a P/S center link for $60 from Delta Bay Mustang, thanks Tom for the quick turn around and good price. For now the cat will remain "Armstong steering" until I can get the rest of the P/S parts together.

In rebuilding the passenger's side brake setup, there was the worst rust I have encountered on the battery tray. So I had to order a used inner bracket (which connects to the bumper) from West Coast Cougar last week. I have yet to install it, but it is in much better condition than the one I currently have, due to all the corrosion from the battery acid. Also been spending time cleaning the bottom of the cat. What a tedious (not to mention messy) job! Like anyone is every going to crawl under there, let alone see it, but me. With any luck I should have the steering linkage finished and the brakes bled by tomorrow. Then it is off to align the front end.

Front End Problems

Okay, so maybe I spoke to soon about having the tie rods and idler arm installed. I began tearing down the front end on the passenger's side. The first thing I noticed is the wheel well is in a worse condition than the driver's side. There appears (see this picture) to have been a battery leak. Combine that with probably the worst rust on the cat and you have problems in and around the battery ledge, which will obviously need a new battery tray. Not sure how to attack the rust issue, may have to get it cut out and replaced.

After removing the right front fender, I began the task of cleaning the wheel well again. The disc brake has been removed and the spindle has been cleaned. But as I am sitting in a cloud of dirt and dust, I got to thinking... I refer back to this comment, "Ohhh my dear Oswald... You are getting sucked into it man... Its happening to you... You wont see it coming... You'll never hear it... You cant feel it... One day, you just wake up and know its there...THE TOTAL RESTORATION BUG!!!!!!!!!." I was having thoughts of pulling the engine. OH and Greg, I see you shaking your head. Stop it! One thing at a time. I will try to stick to that motto. So, the front end is going a bit slower than expected, not that I am too surprised, but I do feel more confident working on this a second time.
