With a little bit of help from the XYL, I was able to connect all the elements for the 5 bands, modify the form of the hex a bit and then piece together a more reliable mounting bracket than what I was previously using.
As I mentioned this is the new rigid feeder from DX Engineering, the company I purchased my 5-band Hexx Beam from. I thought this was much cleaner and longer lasting solution to the new, Mark 2 Hexx that DXE sells. I do not remember how we got discussing this topic on the hex beam Yahoo Group, but I am thankful I did purchase this upgrade.
I still need to check SWR on the antenna to see just what sort of measurements I will get. As was mentioned to me by Rod at DXE, I might need to shorten the elements. If I have the time I will get the antenna analyzer out and start the task.
The hexx beam currently sits atop a 15′ mast that it mounted to the back side of the garage. I attempted to get it back to 20′ but the mast is too thin and I could potentially end up with it falling over. So for NAQP this will have to do. The Horn H50 is on the list and with any luck I will be placing an order for one this coming week. |
