Now that we are only 6 days away from the start of the 2010 NAQP (RTTY) and I received my parts from DX Engineering I decided to pull down the hex beam and replace the feeder system today. Unfortunately, the easy part was getting off the roof. I have untied all the elements and the spreaders and am working on correcting a few of the measurements on the mast, as well as removing all the old parts of the feeder system. What I really need is a second set of hands to hold things while I loosen and tighten bolts, but that isn't happening right now.
With any luck I can have the hub reassembled with the new rigid feeder system in place along with the feed line choke and get working on bending the spreaders and reconnecting the elements. Then the true test comes, measuring the SWR. I am hoping that I won't have any major adjustments, but as Rod as DXE told me, I might need to shorten some of the elements. |
