 | | I arrived home last night to boxes from DXE, which were ordered last week. I picked up their new HEXX Beam 5-Band Rigid Feeder System and a new feed line current choke. Again, big thanks to Al and Rod at DXE, these two guys epitomize customer service. DXE has won a fan for life!
As typical with DXE products, the construction is the highest class, well built with good instructions. With NAQP a week away I am hoping to lower the hex beam and tear down the entire antenna in order to add the feed line choke and the rigid feeder system on Monday, completing the remaining tear down and build up by Wednesday. Because I can't play radio three days straight on my days off. I have some other work around the house and especially in the backyard that needs to be completed. Currently a half of my radial system is torn up, as I am removing some of the grass and replacing it with something more drought tolerant.
Rod did mention the possibility of having to shorten the elements with the new feeder system. I am crossing my fingers that everything works out okay and SWR is acceptable after the retrofit. If not, then it will be time to address those issues and after Wednesday I don't have much time to spend troubleshooting. Regardless, I look forward to NAQP RTTY, the July version. I had looked at the possibility of operating at N6RO here in town, but it was book with either N6ML or N6WM at the controls, so I will do the contest from home and look for an improve score over the February event. I will have a better goal set b y later next week. | | W6ONV on Saturday 10 July 2010 - 12:53:00 | Read/Post Comment: 0 | Things are going well, now that the upgraded e107 to v0.7.22. I believe the older version I was operating had some sort of security loophole that caused my site to be deleted twice in a short span of time. So far I have yet to see any problems that could take the site down again, which is good news.
As for the update, I have started migrating all the past posts from The 6th Floor, dating back to January 30, 1999 over to my Wordpress site. Once this is complete I will move that database back over to IPOWER since I can install Wordpress and configure it.
To date I have copied, read, tagged and categorized 442 articles most gaming related, including Action Quake 2, which is the arena I got started in when I was new to managing a website. While many of the links are now broken, I still maintain a good amount of the data and files from posts in the past. Not sure I will activate those links or make those files available.
I like the fact I can quickly add and remove a category or add a tag to a story. It's great to see the flexibility I have with Wordpress. Now my only concern is being able to personalize the theme I use to fit The 6th Floor. I still like my choice of colors and layout that was brought to life by Per 'Ellusion' Nyhaug back in 2000. With any luck I can get most of the news moved over by the end of the month and start troubleshooting links and the layout. Until that time I will continue to update here. | | W6ONV on Saturday 10 July 2010 - 00:07:14 | Read/Post Comment: 0 |
